I will write more here about what I mean by “interfaith.” It is not only-Christian, nor only-Abrahamic religions. Interfaith respects and honors the truth in all of the major religions of the world, from the ancient time to the present. I draw the line at cults – but that’s more for the manipulative quality of the leadership than the particular beliefs.
At the heart of every major religion are a series of common truths. These include such ideas as ‘The Kingdom of God is found in your heart’ (where one can replace “Kingdom of God” with “enlightenment” or “Truth” or “Wisdom” or any name for the Divine) and ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ (this commandment is found in different languages in all the major scriptures). A wonderful resource for these overlapping concepts is the book Oneness: Great Principles Shared by All Religions by Jeffrey Moses.
When one really takes into their heart that all religions and spiritualities at their core are teaching and leading us to the same things, it becomes impossible to choose one over another or to discriminate or hate based on the minor differences.
